Prelube Pumps

VARNA offers two specialized prelube pumps, the CF-15 and the EP-4. While they have been used in many other applications they were designed with prelube in mind.

The EP4 pump is for DC installations requiring up to 4 GPM (15 LPM)
The CF15 pumps are for installations requiring up to 15 GPM (56.8 LPM)

EP4 Pumps can run on 12vdc or 24vdc and are a great choice for engines in the 400 to 3000 hp range
CF15 Pumps can be run from any 56 C-face motor. They are suitable for engines from 1000 to 4500 hp

Anyone installing or rebuilding a large engine should consider a prelube system. A substantial part of large engine lifetime wear ocures at dry starts after the lube oil has drained from the bearings and the oil galleries during shutdown. An upfront investment in a prelube system can pay for itself many times over by greatly extending an engine's service life.

Engines with turbo will also benefit from a soakback feature. All of our prelube pumps can also be used as soakback pumps by running them after shutdown. Care must be taken to plumb the prelube pump in such a way that after the engine is shut down, oil from the prelube pump will reach the turbo.

Pressure Relief Valve

VARNA's Pressurematic™ technology was originally developed as a part of a fuel pressure regulation circuit. It works by spilling excess fluid to maintain a very flat pressure curve over a wide range of flows. This is generally a custom product sized and set for your application.

Check Valves

VARNA developed a low loss check valve for prelube systems. It is the same valve design that is in the pressure port of our prelube pumps, but as a standalone part. When the engine is running and the prelube system is not, these valves prevent oil flow from escaping back through the idle prelube pump. Most 'off the shelf' check valves use a closing spring that causes them to have a high pressure drop. This simple design uses, open flow path, and no spring. Pressure drop is very hard to measure across this valve.

Pump Control Kits

We are always here to help with installation and control kits to make using a VARNA pump as simple as possible. We have developed a number of these kits with our customers and if we don't have a single part number kit to do what you are looking for we can often work with you to provide one with everything you need to install a complete system that employs one of our other products.
